Used as a Parlimantarian garison in the English Civil war under Colonel John Fox, the hall was returned to its previous owners but subsequently burned down by troops in 1688. The hall was rebuilt in 1717 and is now Grade II listed and used as a Golf Club House with the surrounding parkland which was styled by Lancelot "Capability" Brown being used as the Golf Course.
