aerial photograph of Bignor Roman Villa West Sussex. The fertile land and the close proximity of the Roman City Noviomagus Reginorum ( Chichester ) allowed Roman Farmers to do very well for themselves. They spend their earnings on a magnificent Villa , parts of which still survive to this day. The Villa grew in size between the 1st and 3rd centuries but then seems to have fallen into decline. The Villa was discovered by a ploughman in 1811.
