Greenhalgh Castle aerial photograph
aerial photograph of Greenhalgh Castle near Garstang Lancashire. Greenhalgh Castle was built in 1490 by Thomas Stanley, 1st Earl of Derby and step father of Henry VII. The castle was garisoned by Royalists during the English Civil War and was taken by the Parliamntarians after a long siege in 1644-45. Following the battle the castle was slighted and therefter used as a stone quarry so now only part of one of the corner towers remains.
