aerial photograph of Wharram Percy DMV - deserted medieval village in Yorkshire England UK. The site was settled in prehistoric times reaching its zenith around the 10th to 12th centuries. In 1086 the Doomsday book refers to the village as Warran. The village survived the Black Death of 1348-9 but succumbed to changing land use when landowners found it more profitable to farm sheep and evicted the villagers. Today the village is preserved and is one of the most studdied DMVs in England.
