St Alkmund's Church, Whitchurch aerial photograph
aerial photograph of St Alkmund's Church, Whitchurch, Shropshire UK. Grade I listed St Alkmund's Church was built 1712-13 to a design by John Barker. There were some alterations at the end of the Victorian period and the porch was rebuilt in 1925. The church replaced a previous building on the same site after the medieval tower collapsed in 1711 .There has been a church here since Saxon times and it was the medieval church, which was built of a light coloured stone, which gave Whitchurch its name.
