Uffington Castle univallate hillfort Oxfordshire from the air
aerial photograph of Uffington Castle hillfort in Oxfordshire England UK. Uffington Castle is a univallate hillfort dating to the Bronze age between 7th and 8th century BC . The fort is associated with the adjacent Uffington White Horse hill figure. The fort was occupied, or at least used, right up to the Roman period with evidence of a shrine having been built around 400 AD. The site is now in the care of English Heritage.
