Aerial photograph of Christ Church College , Oxford England Great Britain UK. Christ Church is a constituent college of the University of Oxford and was founded by King Henry VIII in 1546. The image shows the Tom Quad which was begun by Cardinal Wolsey in 1525 to 1529 but never fully completed. It was originally supposed to have a cloister but only the footings were completed which have survived to this day and can be seen in the photograph. Also in the photo is the the Great Dining Hall where Charles I held parliament during the English Civil War. In the foreground is Christ Church Cathedral originally built in the 12th century as part of St Frideswide's Priory.
