Grade I listed St Michael and All Angels Church was built around the 13th century to replace an earlier church on the same site with various alterations and additions throughout the medieval period. In the foreground in the Churchyard is Hawkshead War Memorial which was unveiled on 11 November 1920 and is also Grade II listed. The memorial was designed by William Gershom Collingwood and carved by Barbara Collingwood. Just below the memorial is the Grade II listed sundial dated 1693
