RAF Calverley Cheshire aerial photograph
erial photograph of the former RAF Calverley Cheshire England UK. RAF Calveley was constructed 1941 to 1942. It was originally intended to provide additional fighter defences for Liverpool but by the time construction was complete the requirement had switched to training. Miles Masters and Airspeed Oxfords were the primary training aircraft flown from here. RAF Calverley closed in 1946 and today the site is used for non aviation purposes. The concrete runways have long gone, however the outline of the taxiways are clearly visible in this aerial photo. Various buildings including the control tower remain in derelict condition.
