Standish Viaduct consists of 13 brick arches and 20 iron spans crossing the Douglas valley. The viaduct was built by the Lancashire Union Railway and opened in 1882. The Whelley Loop Line closed in the 1970s and today the viaduct lies abandoned and derelict.
