St Mary's Church, Ottery St Mary aerial photograph
aerial photograph of St Mary's Church, Ottery St Mary, Devon England UK, taken in the early morning light not long after dawn on a summers day.St Mary's Church is one of the most remarkable medieval churches in England. It was first consecrated in 1260 and rebuilt in the early 14th century. Originally it was a Collegiate Church until this was dissolved by Henry VIII, after which it became a parish church. Despite the misfortune of a Victorian make over in 1850, much of the medieval architecture has survived to this day and the building is now protected with Grade I listed status.
