Monks Bar York

The Gatehouse at Monks Bar was built in the 14th century and replaced a 12th century structure which stood further along the wall in the lower right of the image. This previous site was also the location of the Roman gate porta decumana. Today the gatehouse is home to the "Richard III Experience at Monk Bar" Museum
