Leeds Bradford Airport aerial photograph
aerial photograph of Leeds Bradford Airport , EGNM, Yeadon, Leeds Yorkshire England UK. Leeds Bradford Airport was opened in 1931. During the war Avro constructed a shadow factory adjacent the aerodrome with new aircraft able to taxi straight onto the runway for onward departure to operational squadrons. These delivery flights were conducted by the Air Transport Auxiliary (ATA) , also known as the Ancient and Tattered Airmen as it consisted of pilots not suitable for combat. Today the airport is the largest airport in Yorkshire and Jet2.com is based here.
