Heckmondwike

First mentioned in the Doosday book of 1066 when it was named Hedmundewic the name indicates it was once a dairy farm belonging to somebody called Hedmund. Poll Tax records of 1379 show in Heckmondwike was home to 7 families. Today its rather more with an estimated population of 16986.
