Caen Hill flight of Locks
aerial photograph of Caen Hill flight of Locks Devizes Wiltshire England UK Built between 1794 and 1810 as part of the Kennet and Avon Canal the locks are distinctive because of the usually large pounds which provide the water necessary to take the canal up the steep hill. The Canal was closed in 1948 and fell into disuse but was reopened and restored with an official reopening by the Queen in 1990.
