Gas Street Basin Birmingham aerial photograph
aerial photograph of Gas Street Basin Birmingham West Midland England UK . Gas Street Basin is situated at the union of the Worcester and Birmingham Canal and the Birmingham Canal Navigations BCN Main Line. It was built at the end of the 18th century and when originally constructed the two canals were separated by the Worcester Bar with cargo being carried between boats either side of the bar. Eventually bar lock was constructed to enable boats to travel between the two canals. The Bar is accessed by foot via a 19th century cast iron footbridge design by Horseley Ironworks.
