Moorhall Manor Moat Whissendine Rutland
aerial photograph of Moor Lane moated site, Whissendine, Rutland UK. One of around 6000 moated sites in England this moat has been listed as a scheduled ancient monument since 1953. This site is unusual in that as well as the moat there is also an outer bank. The archaeology still shows up well when viewed from the air. The central Island still contains the foundations of Moorhall Manor House that stood here. Historical documents mention Moorhall Manor in 1306 during the reign of Edward I.
