aerial photograph of Berney Arms Windmill Norfolk.
aerial photograph of Berney Arms Windmill Norfolk. At 71ft Berney Arms Windmill is the tallest wind pump in Norfolk. Built in 1865 the building is unusual in that it has been both a mill and a water pump. Originally it was used to grind cement. Milling ceased in 1880 and the building was converted to a water pump shortly after. The scoop wheel can be seen in the photo set back from the mill. Water pumping continued until 1948 and the building is now a Scheduled monument cared for by English Heritage.
