aerial photograph of Happisburgh Lighthouse, Norfolk England UK.Happisburgh Lighthouse was built in 1790 and is the oldest lighthouse in East Anglia still working.Originally candle powered it was electrified in 1947. Originally it was built as a pair with a low light but the other was demolished in 1883 due to coastal erosion. It was planned to close the lighthouse in 1988 but an independent trust was set up to run it making it the only independent lighthouse in Great Britain.
