Cold war relic: discarded 20m diameter tropospheric scatter dishes at the former RAF Stenigot. The base was originally opened as a Chain Holme Radar Station to protect Sheffield and Nottingham. After the war it was used for the ACE High NATO UHF troposcatter Radiocommunication system. Originally there were 82 such stations in 9 countries.
