Baggrave deserted medieval village ( DMV )
aerial photograph of Baggrave deserted medieval village ( DMV ) Leicestershire England UK. One of the clearest and best preserved deserted medieval villages, the line of the former main street is clearly visible in these aerial photographs. The layout of houses , tracks and out buildings all still show clearly and the village is surrounded by a well preserved system of ridge and furrow field patterns. At the southern end of the village is the outline of a moat which once contained the manor house. Poll Tax records show around 15 families living here, however by 1563 the village had become populated with only two families remaining. In the 16th century the manor house was replaced by a hall at the northern end of the former village.
