RNAS Inskip aka HMS Nightjar aerial photograph
aerial photograph of the former RNAS Inskip also known as HMS Nightjar. Opened in 1943 the station was used for training and was home to 1500 personal.Facilities included a brick submarine silhouette for bombing practice..In the 1970s the runways were dug up so that the concrete could be used in the building of the M55 Motorway. Today the site is operated by Babcock International Groupfor the Ministry of Defence who run a high frequency transmitter station as part of the Defence High Frequency Communications Service.
