aerial photograph of Hadleigh castle, England , United Kingdom. The Castle was built in 1215 and later much improved and extended by Edward III who used it as a Royal residence. The castle suffered greatly from subsistence and was largely demolished in the 16th century. The ruins were the subject of a famous painting by John Constable. Today the site is owned by English heritage and is open to the public.
