Bury Castle Iron Age Hillfort near Cardinham Cornwall aerial photograph
aerial photograph of Bury Castle Iron Age Hillfort near Cardinham Cornwall England UK. Bury Castle is primarily a univallate hill fort occupying around 1.5 hectares, however the northern side has a second set of ramparts to bolster defenses on this side. This second rampart ends abruptly on the west and eastern sides. It has been degraded by modern ploughing, however a small section on the west is walled off and much better preserved. The entrance was on the eastern side and would originally have been more elaborate than is currently apparent with an in turned and heavily defended entrance way.
