aerial photograph of the Roman town of Venta Icenorum in modern day Caistor St Edmund Norfolk England UK.The town was constructed after the defeat of Queen Boudica and the British uprising in 61AD as the Romans sought to solidify their power and control over the surviving Iceni. Venta Icenorum is one of only 3 Roman towns in Britain which was not built over after the Romans left and as such is very well preserved. The path of the original Roman streets still show clearly in this photo.
