aerial photograph of toll booths on the Dartford Crossing Kent England UK.The Dartford Crossing was originally just the Dartford Tunnel , the first half of which opened in 1963 with a second tunnel added in 1980. The Queen Elizabeth II Bridge was added in 1991 and now handles southbound traffic while the tunnels handle the northbound traffic. The Toll Booths have now been removed and replaced with an online payment system.
