St Enodoc's Church, Trebetherick dates back to the 12th century and is said to sit on the site of a cave where Enodoc lived as a hermit. From the 16th to 19th Century the church was largely buried in the sand dues and referred to as "Sinkininny Church" For tax reasons it was required to host at least one service per year and to do so the clergy and worshippers had to descend into the church through a whole in the roof. The Church was eventually dug out of the sand and restored in 1863.
