York old railway station
aerial photograph of York old railway station York England UK. Opened in 1841 to a design by George Townsend Andrews, the station was designed as a terminus which proved problematic when the railway was extended to Newcastle and beyond. Thus a new through station was built nearby in 1877 and the old station was relegated to the storage of rolling stock until 1965. From 2010 to 2013 the building was rebuilt to accommodate City of York Council West Offices.
