Gascoigne Almshouses Aberford Leeds

This fine example of Victorian gothic architecture was designed by George Fowler Jones the Almshouses were built by Isabella Gascoigne & Elizabeth Gascoigne to commemorate their brothers Thomas and Richard as well as their father Richard Oliver Gascoigne who all died within a year of each other in 1842/3. The sisters wanted some good to come from a lasting memorial and the home provided accommodation for 8 homeless people. The building was constructed in a relatively short time form Spetember 1843 to May 1845 and today is Grade II listed. Today it is used as business premises for Masternaut UK and is called Priory Park.
