Red Sands Fort (U6) , one of the Maunsell Sea Forts
aerial photograph Red Sands Fort (U6) , one of the Maunsell Sea Forts built off the coast of Kent, to defend Britain during World War 2.The towers were originally interconnected and mounted Bofors anti aircraft guns on the gun towers and search lights on one the other tower. They were abandoned after the war but due to there strong construction many are still standing. The construction technology was later employed in the construction of offshore drilling platforms.
